Memento Mori FX provides special makeup effects, prosthetics, practical blood and gore, trauma and wound effects, character and creature makeup, and custom props for film, television, independent productions, photography, and other creative projects.

Led by Special Effects Makeup Artist Daniel Rivera, Memento Mori FX works with filmmakers to take an effect from concept to camera—whether it calls for a subtle bruise or illness makeup, a prosthetic wound, a creature transformation, a practical gore effect, or a screen-ready prop.

Practical Effects for Your Production

Every production has different creative needs, schedules, and budgets. Effects can be created out of the kit, fabricated specifically for the production, or professionally sourced through our network of specialty effects manufacturers and suppliers.

We can help productions obtain prosthetic appliances, severed limbs and body parts, realistic prop heads and bodies, breakaway effects, creature pieces, masks, practical gore props, specialty blood effects, and other screen-ready SFX materials without requiring every element to be fabricated from scratch.

When a custom piece is needed, Memento Mori FX can also coordinate the design, fabrication, sourcing, modification, finishing, and on-set application necessary to make the effect work for the shot.

Memento Mori FX combines practical effects with an understanding of acting, filmmaking, martial arts, and fight choreography. That means effects aren’t designed simply to look good on a table, they’re planned around the performer, movement, camera angles, continuity, and the action happening within the scene.
